Weavers make their way to Melbourne

A group of six weavers from the Wadeye Palngun Wurnangat Association are busy preparing for a week-long collaborative workshop with Indigenous weavers from Dandenong, Victoria. The combined group will complete an artist’s residency at Eltham College and share their stories to create a narrative sculpture that will be auctioned in September.

Here are some images of our weavers preparing the thithimampe (sand palm) for weaving.

  1. It was an amazing visit. We hope the women enjoyed the trip. The Victorian women really enjoyed hosting the women and just wished they had more time together. Hopefully we can get the Victorian women up to Wadeye next year.
